The challenge

The challenge

A family traveling with three young children was staying at a resort in a two-bedroom suite.

On their departure day, just a few hours before their airport transfer, their flight was cancelled because of technical issues and rescheduled for the next day. Suddenly they needed accommodation for an extra night, revised flight arrangements and a new transfer.

What Lana did

Someone on their side.

  1. Advised the family to ask the hotel whether they could remain in their existing suite
  2. Recommended keeping every receipt for a possible travel insurance claim
  3. Coordinated their flight arrangements while the family arranged the additional night
  4. Rescheduled their airport transfer
  5. Submitted the travel insurance claim once the family sent their documentation from home

The outcome

The family stayed in the same suite. The additional night cost approximately $600, and those extra expenses were reimbursed through travel insurance.

Instead of personally coordinating every part of the disruption, the parents could concentrate on looking after their children.

Travel support matters most when a family meets the unexpected.

Insurance coverage, reimbursements and supplier arrangements depend on the individual booking, policy terms and circumstances.
